Spilling the beans on why flavored coffee is my new obsession
It’s no secret that I’m coffee obsessed, but what I love about coffee is that it is easily customizable. I think that just like my outfit, my coffee should reflect my mood! Flavor has allowed me to do this and transformed the way I enjoy my everyday coffee; vanilla and caramel have always been my go-to fave flavors, but now there are hundreds of coffee flavors to choose from.
I’ve decided to dig into flavored coffee, what makes it so irresistible and why it is now on everyone’s coffee wish list.
Coffee flavors
Every coffee bean has its own flavor notes - there are base notes and upper notes. It also has its own aromas. These flavor notes and aromas occur naturally and it is why coffee is enjoyed by millions around the globe every day. It’s a complex and delicious drink that could never be accused of being boring!
What is flavored coffee?
Flavored coffee is coffee with additional flavor added to it. This adds extra ‘fun’ to coffee!
Why flavor coffee?
Flavoring coffee is not new, the practice has been around for centuries. Anything added should enhance the bean’s natural flavor and elevate your coffee. But there's no need to work out what you could add from your pantry to flavor your coffee anymore.
Ready flavored coffee is becoming the new go-to for coffee fans who want to ‘sweeten’ their day with flavor.
Why drink flavored coffee vs regular coffee?
Lots of people have a sweet tooth and want to hide the bitterness they don’t enjoy in their everyday coffee. Adding flavor is a great way to avoid adding sweetener or sugar to your coffee to take away some of this bitterness.
What is the most popular coffee flavor?
It’s no surprise that vanilla is America’s favorite flavor*, the naturally sweet and creamy flavor can cancel out the bitterness in coffee.
Caramel and Hazelnut flavor are tied in second place with mocha a close third!* All these flavors have sweet notes that can balance out the bitterness people want to avoid tasting in their coffee.
What flavored coffee is the best?
I’m still obsessed with vanilla iced latte, but I think that will soon change because Florence by Mills Coffee is brewing up some new flavor options
